VIAGGIO NEL SUD DEI CARAIBI

A magical experience through the blue of the ocean, white beaches, hidden treasures and sunset sailing. I take you through the journey of the most incredible islands along the southern Caribbean route.

SAINT LUCIA

We parted in Saint Lucia on December 10, with the tiredness of the crossing still on our shoulders, the salt in our hair and our legs struggling to walk on dry land after 20 days at sea. We have finally arrived at this tropical paradise. The vegetation of Saint Lucia is incredible, the biggest leaves I have ever seen before, the island is a boundless rainforest, interspersed with colorful fishing villages. It is full of surprises and suggestive locations, which I wanted to include in this guide.

The Pink Plantations House

A colonial house surrounded by greenery, just a few minutes from the capital Castries. You will be amazed at the beautiful rain garden that surrounds the villa. The colorful restaurant is on the terrace overlooking the sea, the cuisine is traditional with an innovative imprint. In the structure, in addition to the rooms and the restaurant, there is a shop/studio of local, colorful and irresistible ceramics.

Jambe de Bois

Nestled in the Pigeon Island National Park, this restaurant made entirely of island materials transports you into a magical atmosphere. The carved wooden furniture seems to have stories to tell and the vegetation makes its way into every corner. After a lobster Roti I recommend a break in the book room.

The Naked Fisherman

Going down a long staircase towards the beach of Smugglers Cove you reach a delightful cove. The restaurant is on the beach, attached to the cliff. The atmosphere in the evening is magical, I order a margarita and enjoy the starry sky.

The Sugar Beach

The hotel is located between the Pitons, a World Heritage Site made up of two spiky mountains, Gros Piton and Petit Piton, that define the landscape of St. Lucia. The village also has a beer called Piton (very refreshing on the beach). From a Sugar Beach mansion, the peaks appear close enough to touch. “If you hear a boom, it’s just rocks falling off the Pitons,” our driver said with a laugh on the 45 minute drive from our marina. After the day at the beach, we ask for directions to Sugar Beach’s Cane Bar. Beyond a secret door, the space would be more Paris-appropriate, with its white interior and back room filled with plush sofas with jewel-toned cushions. Grab a ‘ti punch, a rum cocktail with lime and brown sugar.

BEQUIA

We continue our route towards Bequia, a small island under Sant Vincent in the Grenadine archipelago, and it is immediately love. The colors of Port Elizabeth enchant me, the fruit and vegetable shops line the promenade along the sea, the small boutiques selling objects and body products captivate me immediately. I’m too excited to have found a perfect dinner set for the boat, I can’t resist, I like to think of bringing little treasures found in our stops on board.

MUSTIQUE

The island of Mustique is an authentic pearl of the Grenadines archipelago. One of its particular peculiarities is that of being a private island. We arrive around 6pm and are greeted by music from Basil’s Bar echoing across the bay. Every Sunday they have jazz concerts and it would not be a coincidence to find yourself sharing the dance floor with the Beckhams, as well as the Dukes of Cambridge. David Bowie was a frequent visitor to the island, where he bought a house and where he used to read stories to the students of a local school every Tuesday, Mick Jagger and Tommy Hilfiger still own homes in this little jewel of the Antilles. We are already on the tender, a super fun evening is expected!

The island of Mustique is known for the presence of dream beaches. The long stretches of very fine white sand gradually fade away, giving way to the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Furthermore, on the island you can reach wonderful coves. One of the most beautiful beaches in the area, Lagoon Beach, on the official website you can book wonderful picnics directly on the beach.

On the island there is Pink House Mustique, the only boutique, which sells a line made by them, the silk pajamas prints are beautiful, and the linen suits are super chic, I bought one all in pink. In the bar next door they serve excellent breakfasts and fresh fruit smoothies.

TOBAGO CAYS

Five uninhabited islets bathed by a splendid crystalline sea and surrounded by coral reefs. this sea is full of surprises, tartaric and starfish meet every day. Is a dream. We anchor so close to the beach that we can swim to it. It’s days of snorkeling and endless swimming. In the evening we are joined by the local boys who with their small boats take you to the beach for the classic lobster grill under the stars. Nature here is surprising, and fills every moment with wonder.

Travel for yourself, not for others. Embrace a slower pace and get to know the heart of your destination. Walk barefoot and tilt your head towards the sun. Enjoy the ride itself on the deck of the boat. Search for hidden gems and soak up the atmosphere. Put yourself out of office. Create memories you’ll treasure.
